The funny thing about Queensland is that the further you travel north the cheaper it is to buy a boat because there are so many in the northern parts of this big Australian state. I took to the trader magazines to find a boat for sale which was just to be used as a run about and mainly for fishing and this is where I found out that most of the cheap boats were not to be found in Brisbane.

After I had picked the boat that I wanted I hired a car with a tow ball from the car hire Cairns airport agents and set off the pick up the boat I had just purchased. It was from a boat dealer so I had a place to bring it back too if there were any major problems however I did not fancy coming all the way back in this twenty-six hour drive.

I drove the rental car back with the trailer in tow which was the idea of getting the boat back to Brisbane. The best part about using one of the bigger name rental car agents is that picking up a car in Cairns meant that I could drop it off to one of the many depots in Brisbane.
